Thanks Borries for leading the call yesterday and apologies to the group for my unexpected absence due to dental work and delays at their office. Ugh.
The proposed experimentation, number of samples, and expected output is clear and fits with our expectations. Please have a quotation put together and sent to my attention for review. Once I have that, I will approve and we can move forward with sample shipping and subsequent analysis.
Thanks!
Nick

Perfect, I reviewed the project request and I have most of the information I need to design the experiment. I was wondering if you could add a representative TEM image by uploading it in your LIMS account under "Supporting Files"

Perfect, I reviewed the project request and I have most of the information I need to design the experiment. I was wondering if you could add a representative TEM image by uploading it in your LIMS account under "Supporting Files" (button in the left bar). You can associate it with your project request. Also, if you know the expected range of particle sizes in nanometers that would help as well to predict the most suitable rotor speed, and would save some experimentation time. If you happen to have an absorbance spectrum down to 220 nm or so of a very dilute sample, you can upload that as well.
As soon as I have approval from Nick to proceed, Sophia in our lab will send you shipping instructions. Please include at least 15 ml of buffer for these samples for dilutions.
Thanks! -Borries

Hi everyone,
as discussed today, in order to demonstrate the feasibility of the AUC method, and to contrast the results obtained from DLS, we plan to compare three samples of gold nanoparticles by sedimentation velocity. The goal is to demonstrate that AUC can pick up particle size distributions with much higher resolution than DLS and also can differentiate between different densities resulting from different metal core-hydration shell ratios.
These questions have been previously evaluated by AUC in the following publications, two of which Aysha has contributed significantly already:

and create a project request ("Projects" button on the left bar) to get the ball rolling. Aysha will provide you with the shipping instructions and Luc or Elie will prepare a cost estimate for Nick to get a PO issued. We discussed obtaining ~2 ml of 1 OD at peak absorbance wavelength of three different samples to demonstrate that different answers can be obtained for each sample, and we may consider diluting the sample with the storage buffer (please provide 15 ml). Further details will be provided in the project request.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards, -Borries
